Add a code block
Put your DBML in a code block in the issue's description or in a comment, the same way you would paste any other snippet.
JIRA CLOUD · BUILT ON ATLASSIAN FORGE
Keep your schema as DBML in an issue's description or comments and add the panel. Every diagram is drawn from its code block, in the viewer's own browser, with nothing sent outside your Jira site.
WHAT IT DOES
A schema change is easier to review as a diagram. This one is drawn from the code on the issue, every time the issue loads.
HOW IT WORKS
The panel reads one issue: the one it is on. There is no account to create, no service to connect, and nothing to install beyond the app itself.
Put your DBML in a code block in the issue's description or in a comment, the same way you would paste any other snippet.
Under the issue title, open the apps button and choose DBML diagrams. The panel then stays on that issue for everyone who opens it.
The description's diagrams come first, then the latest diagrams from comments, each labelled with who posted it and when. Edit the DBML and the diagrams redraw on their own.
WHAT IT DRAWS
Every table as a card, with column types and markers for primary keys, unique columns, not-null columns and auto-increment, and foreign keys drawn between the columns that define them.
Diagrams posted in comments carry their author, date and a link back to the comment. The newest three show first; earlier ones, and older comments on a long thread, are a click away.
Click any diagram to open it full screen, then zoom with the toolbar, the wheel or the keyboard and drag to pan. A 120-table schema stays readable.
DATA AND PERMISSIONS
The app asks for a single Jira permission, read:jira-work, so it can read the description and comments of the issue it is on and find the code blocks to draw. It reads as the person viewing the issue, so it never sees more than they can, and it never writes to your issues.
Diagrams are drawn in the viewer's own browser by code that ships inside the app. We operate no servers for it, store nothing, and send nothing to ourselves or any third party. It runs entirely on Atlassian infrastructure and is eligible for Atlassian's Runs on Atlassian programme.
PRICING AT RELEASE
Sites of up to 10 users pay nothing. Above that it is priced per user per month, each band at its own rate: $0.60 for users 11–100, $0.48 for 101–250, $0.35 for 251–1,000, $0.30 for 1,001–2,500, and less again for larger sites, down to $0.20, in US dollars. That is half the price of DBML Diagrams for Confluence. Annual billing is ten times the monthly price, there is a 30-day free trial, and billing is handled by Atlassian.
DBML Diagrams for Jira is being prepared for release on the Atlassian Marketplace. If you would like to hear when it is listed, let us know. For Confluence pages, see DBML Diagrams for Confluence.
